Designing around the avatar overlap on X headers
The header is a full width strip, but your profile photo sits on top of the bottom left on many layouts. 1500 x 500 pixels is the canvas size most references give for that banner.
If you ignore the overlap, logos and faces can hide under the circular avatar. Treat the lower left as reserved space even if your mock-up looks empty there.
Tips before you upload
- Keep critical branding in the centre and upper third.
- Export JPEG under a few hundred kilobytes when you can. Headers reload on every profile view.
- This preset forces 1500 x 500. Ultra tall artwork will stretch horizontally unless you crop first.
- For link previews, use the Open Graph card preset instead. Headers and cards answer different jobs.
