When a portal asks for a square photo instead of a tall passport frame
Some systems request a 1:1 headshot at 600 x 600 pixels. Others ask for different sizes entirely. This preset is a practical starting canvas, not a guarantee that every government site accepts it.
Always read the live instructions on the portal. Requirements for background colour, glasses, and expression override anything a generic tool can promise.
Tips before you upload
- Leave headroom above the hair. Auto-crop tools on the portal may still trim edges.
- Use JPEG and watch the kilobyte readout if the form caps file size.
- If the portal specifies a different pixel size, use the full Pixscaler workspace and type those dimensions manually.
- For tall biometric frames, use the passport style preset on Pixscaler instead of this square.
All compression happens locally in your browser. Your image files never leave your computer.
