Why portrait 4:5 posts are popular in the feed

Portrait frames take more screen height while someone scrolls, so product shots and portraits often feel stronger at 1080 x 1350 than at square.

Instagram still crops thumbnails on your profile grid. Keep faces and logos near the vertical centre so the grid preview does not cut off the story you are trying to tell.

Tips before you upload

  • This preset locks the export to 1080 x 1350. If your camera file is ultra wide, expect side bands or a centre crop depending on how you composed the shot before export.
  • JPEG is the practical default for photos. Use PNG only when you need razor sharp text on a flat background.
  • Watch file size after compression. Large portraits can still weigh several hundred kilobytes at high quality.
  • If you also post Reels or Stories, compare this frame to the 9:16 story preset so you pick the right canvas for each placement.

All compression happens locally in your browser. Your image files never leave your computer.
